If You Change One Thing....Add an SPF

“If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it.”

Quoted from that strange and annoying song by Baz Luhrmann; everybody’s Free (to wear sunscreen) but oh boy was he right.

Personally I don’t want my face to look like a tanned handbag when I’m 50 if you do that’s cool enjoy but I’d rather look after my skin now. By all means spend £1000’s of clothes, shoes and accessories but at the end of the day they can be replaced, and we only get one face. So in my eyes it kind of makes sense to spend time and effort on that.

I wear and SPF 50 everyday, yes every day. Why? Well if the above statement didn’t get across how strongly I feel about SPF then I will try to explain. Skin can be damaged by the sun’s rays on a cloudy rainy day, it’s not just when you’re on your sun lounger in Spain it’s all day every day. A SPF in your foundation does not cut it, it will stop providing protection in a very short amount of time, you need to add this as a separate product designed to give full spectrum protection against UVA and UVB.

I am not going to go into the technical side of things Caroline Hiron’s the skincare queen does that just fine ill link her SPF cheat sheet here.

I choose to wear a separate SPF product daily that is not heavy, greasy or leaves a white cast it sinks straight in and is totally undetectable the award for most discreet SPF goes to….

Kiehl’s Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50 PA +++ UVA (after some extensive research this does give UVB also)

This is the last step in my morning skincare routine, I apply my day moisturizer then allow a few minutes for that to sink in, whether that’s me making a coffee or getting changed, then I apply this as a primer, then again leave it a minute then go in with make up to make sure everything is on and has sunk in before applying another product.

So far I’d say ill repurchase this forever I am well over half way through this, unless another product comes my way to try but I will always use a SPF daily because as I said earlier, you get one face so let's look after it!
